Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ.
– Philippians 1:27
Paul said it was most important for us to live as a citizen of heaven. That means, we don’t always or else he wouldn’t have to remind us how important it is.
If we obey God’s commands then we are living as citizens of heaven and people will believe in God because of our conduct. (Deuteronomy 28:9-10)
If you’re not obeying scripture. If you are still sinning everyday then maybe you’re not a citizen of heaven. That should lead to the next question…
How do you become a citizen of heaven?
In Acts 22 Paul reminds the jailer that it isn’t legal to whip a Roman Citizen without a trial. The commader comes and basically says “How did you become a citizen? It cost me a lot of money.” Paul answered, “But I am a citizen by birth!”
We can’t buy our way into God’s Kingdom. We must be born into it…more correctly “born-again” into it.
To become a citizen is to become a child of God. It is to humble yourself like a little child and say, “Lord, I can’t control my own life. I give full control to you.”
If you haven’t done that, do it now, then tell me about it. God bless.
